Mardi Himal Trek via Poon Hill is a stunning trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal, offering a unique off-the-beaten-path experience. The trek starts and ends in Kathmandu and Pokhara respectively and takes approximately 9-12 days to complete. The trekking difficulty is moderate, making it suitable for most trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness.
During the trek, you’ll walk through rhododendron forests and traditional villages, with opportunities to interact with local communities and learn about their culture and lifestyle. The trek offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, including the majestic Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and the highlight of the trek is undoubtedly the sunrise views from Poon Hill.

Our airport representative will be receiving you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and s/he will be displaying a Company signboard outside the airport terminal. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel in our private tourist vehicle. Overnight at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel.
We will take a drive for 3 to 4 hours from Pokhara to Hile before starting the trek. The road until Nayapul is paved in concrete. After the drive we will walk 2 hours to reach in Banthati. It will be a bumpy ride, so be prepared mentally for the challenge. Today’s walk provides a short and relatively easy day and the journey familiarizes climbers with the experience of trekking in Nepal.
We move on towards our destination Ghorepani, a popular scenic village at an altitude of 2,840 m. The trail ascends more gently from Banthati through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons we trek towards Nangethanti at 2,460 m. After another 2 hour walk we arrive at Ghorepani.
Today, very early in the morning, we start an hour hiking to Poon Hill at an elevation of 3,210 m, a brilliant mountain range spectacle; this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas. There we spend about 1 hour and returning to Ghorepani, we take a hot breakfast. Then we make a climb along ridges, and through pine and rhododendron forests, towards Deurali (2,960 m). After that, we descend to the Banthanti, then turn off to Tadapani.
Enjoy the morning breakfast with the glorious sunrise, and morning mountain views from your teahouse. It’s a different kind of experince having a local breakfast seeing the snowy peaks after breakfast starts our hike towards Landruk village. We will pass through Ghandruk village, one of the biggest Gurung in this area. The trail is almost downhill and the last gently push to Landruk village.
After taking breakfast in the morning, we head out to Forest Camp that will take about 6 to 7 hours of long walk. The trail is slightly ascends to Deurali (2,100 m). At Deurali there is a signboard pointing towards right saying “Forest Camp”. We follow that path to reach our next destination. The trail enters a quiet jungle of oak trees, maples, rhododendrons etc. After hiking for few more hours under the shades of trees, and chirping of birds, we will reach Forest Camp where we spend our night there.
The exciting walk to High Camp is one of the scenic walk throughout the trek. After early breakfast, we head on to the trekking trails. We walk under the shades of Rhododendron forest until we reach Badal danda and then the trail continues on the grassy ridges. The trail gradually ascends throughout the hike to the High Camp. We walk above the line of hills and the temperature reduces along the path. After walking for almost 5 to 6 hours, we finally reach High Camp.
Today we wake up early in the morning and walk for few hours to reach the Upper view point or Mardi Himal Base Camp. The view of the Annapurna Sanctuary can be clearly seen. The panoramic views of South face of Mt. Annpaurna, Himchuli and Machhapuchhre (Mt Fishtail) is truly rewarding. It’s time to experience the accomplishment of our journey to Mardi Himal base Camp. After spending few hours here, we return back to the High Camp for breakfast. After having lunch and resting for some time at High camp, we walk down for 2 hours and reach Low Camp.
Today is the last day of trekking. We start our day with a leisurely walk down to Siding. The trail further continues towards Siding where we will take our drive back to Pokhara in tourist vehicle. Upon reaching Pokhara, we celebrate the successful trek to the Mardi Himal.
Fly to Kathmandu from Pokhara, upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. You’ll have the rest of the day free to explore the city, do some souvenir shopping or relax after the trek. We have a farewell dinner with the team.
Our 11 day Madi Himal Trek finally ends today. Our Airport Representative will drop you off to the Kathmandu International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal. Good bye and have a safe journey.
